Dear Music Lovers,
Our 81st season is now well underway.
As our venue for the past 32 years is soon to be demolished we have now moved our beautiful Kawai grand piano to our new venue at St Andrew’s Uniting Church, 47A Kenneth Street, Longueville.
Our first concert in our new venue on Tuesday 12 May with Andrew Rumsey, piano and Myee Clohessy, and a programme entitled “A Journey Through the Present” focussed on current Australian composers. It was an exciting and enchanting programme and proved our new home to be excellent acoustically and, with its raised stage, very audience friendly.
On Tuesday 23 June, The Baker Boys – Elijah, Gabriel and Isaac presented a joyful showcase of trumpet, tuba and trombone and piano brilliance. From soaring trumpet melodies to the rich depths of the tuba and the expressive voice of the trombone, The Baker Boys shared their love of music and revealed the unique bond that only brothers in harmony can create. It was an impressive and memorable evening.
Our upcoming fourth concert on 11 August will be held in the church where harpists Verna Lee and Azumi Lehmann of Australis Harp Duo will present Tales from Afar. The charm of two harps allows the duo to explore repertoire from traditional music to brilliant transcriptions of orchestral works, from ancient eras to modern times. Come and join us for a heavenly evening showcasing the rich and warm tones of this ancient instrument.
Our fifth concert on 13 October will be our annual link with Sydney Eisteddfod for the Alf and Pearl Pollard Memorial Awards. The 10 best instrumentalists aged 13-15 have been selected from the 2026 Sydney Eisteddfod events. This is always an evening with extraordinary talent revealed and their performances assessed by an audience vote.
