Dear Music Lovers,

For our first concert for 2025 on 11 March, world-acclaimed pianist Simon Tedeschi teamed up with jazz vocalist and violinist George Washingmachine and gave our audience of over 200 a fabulous concert of Gershwin favourites and more. Simon’s performance of Rhapsody in Blue was dramatic and unforgettable. As a team the two worked as one and held the audience in their hands with incredible musicality and interesting anecdotes. To celebrate the Club’s 80th Anniversary, refreshments were enjoyed at the end of the concert with everyone happy and relaxed after a memorable evening.

Our second concert for our 80th Season on 13 May featured two celebrated Australian superstars, flautist Jane Rutter and harpist Louise Johnson, who delivered an unforgettable program titled “Magic Flutes, Electric Harp Blues & The Silver Screen”.

At our third concert on 17 June renowned string quartet, the Acacia Quartet, were welcomed by the large crowd who had braved the wintry weather. Acacia presented a polished performance of Quartets by Haydn and Dvorak and compositions by modern Australian composers, Lyle Chan, Alice Chance and Elena Kats-Chernin, finishing with a brilliant version of Waltzing Matilda.

Our next concert on 12 August will see a return visit by the woodwind quintet, Windfall. Their program will include some dance inspired works by Beethoven, De Falla, Khachaturian and other favourites…a concert with something for everyone
