Dear Music Lovers,

Our winter concert on 20 June was well attended and very much enjoyed. Nick Russoniello on saxophone, led the Golden Age Quarter of Julia Russoniello, violin, Anthea Cottee, cello and Zi-Hao Li, piano, returning us to the silent movie era with early silent movies from Australia and Charlie Chaplin with brilliant accompaniment, compiled/composed by Nick. We were also treated with additional music written specifically for different scenes in silent movies…a ragtime genre in itself. A unique and sensational evening.
For our 4th concert on 8 August, harpist Verna Lee and flautist/baritone Philip Murray entertained us with repertoire from the medieval, on baroque harp and baroque flute, to the modern era on more recent instruments. Verna and Philip also gave our audience an explanation on how their instruments work and how they have evolved. It was a beautiful concert, a relaxing and ethereal combination of harp, flute, zills and mellow baritone voice.
Our 5th concert on 10 October is our annual collaboration with Sydney Eisteddfod “The Sydney Eisteddfod Pollard Awards for Performance Excellence”. The 10 finalists are prize-winning instrumentalists from this year’s eisteddfod. Come and hear young, talented, possible ‘stars of the future’ as they perform for these Awards. Winners are determined by audience vote. Ticket bookings will open on 19 September via a link under Next Event on our Home page.

Our final concert on 28 November will present the Taverner Consort of Voices …further details in November.
